Specflue was founded in 1992 as an independent company with just five members of staff.  Specflue developed quickly, continuously expanding its customer base and adding new product lines.  Today the company employs over 120 members of staff and has a turnover in excess of £23 million.    

Specflue’s guiding principles remain the same today as they were in 1992: innovation, the provision of top class products and the delivery of outstanding customer service.  It is these beliefs coupled with the technical knowledge of its staff that have driven Specflue to become one of the UK’s leading suppliers of flue, chimney and renewable heat products.    

Specflue’s head office is located in Sudbury, Suffolk; covering over 100,000 sq. ft. compared to the 4,000 sq. ft. when the company began in 1992.  In 2010, success meant that a new depot was opened in Honiton, Devon to service the south west of the country.  The combination of the Sudbury and Honiton warehouses allow Specflue to service from the tip of Southern England upwards into the Midlands.  Specflue’s service extends to other areas of the UK via the use of courier services. 

Since 1992, Specflue has specialised in the stocking and UK distribution of pre-fabricated chimney and flue systems; everything from twin wall and single wall flue systems to chimney cowls and flexible liner.  Nowadays, Specflue has almost 6,000 products in stock at any one time, all available on a next day delivery (Highlands and Islands may vary). 

The product range was extended in 2011 with the opening of the National Chimney Academy, Specflue’s solid fuel training centre comprising of a mixture of classroom and practical areas.  Today, the aim of this centre, as it was in 2011, is to educate and raise standards within the solid fuel industry, whilst improving product awareness and accrediting competency and skill with national HETAS qualifications.    

Specflue further expanded its product offering in 2012 with its decision to move into the renewable energy market.  This was a natural progression for Specflue; greatly complimenting its hugely successful existing product offering and capitalising on a rapidly expanding market sector.  Specflue’s renewable product offering comprises of pellet stoves, biomass boilers, solar thermal and thermal stores.  Specflue also acquired a company called Thermal Integration allowing the manufacturing of a unique thermal store product.    

To complement Specflue’s diversification into the renewable energy sector, in 2012 Specflue opened the Renewables Centre, Specflue’s renewables training centre, once again comprising of a mixture of classroom and practical areas.  Today Specflue’s Training Division is the largest solid fuel and renewables training centre in the UK with delegate numbers up by 60% compared to 2010. 

Also in 2012 the Directors of Specflue acquire the intellectual property of Direct Pressure Systems and set up a new a related company Thermal Integration Limited. Giving Specflue the ability to supply their own manufactured Thermal Stores and Heat Banks with tailored solutions integrating a number of renewable fuel sources with a solid fuel appliance.

In March 2013 Green Square’s first retail showroom in Raynes Park (London) to sell our range of renewable appliances, thermal stores and solar panels. This is a franchise model and will see later this year the next two showrooms opening in Kelso and Canterbury. The showrooms offer end users an installed renewables solution for their homes.

In support of their biomass products Specflue added to their offer two full time service and maintenance managers. In an emerging Biomass market with many new installers coming into. Support and coaching of the installers as well as giving the installers the right skill set became paramount to the success of Specflue’s biomass offer. Specflue expanded their service support team and added another 2 field service engineers in 2014 to provide cover to the whole country within 48 hours of receiving a call for intervention. Specflue also offer to commission a boiler and assist with the initial set up of the appliance on installation.

In order to ensure Specflue offered consist service to all their customers a depot was opened in Castleford in 2014 to service on their own vans the North of England, Scotland and Wales. Next working day delivery on our own vans now is across the whole UK mainland with orders placed before 4pm for England and Wales and 2.30pm for most of Scotland.

In 2014 Specflue became the sole distributor for their MCZ pellet appliances in the UK and Northern Ireland. With delivery from stock in 48 hours from the point of order. Coupled with the pre installation training, commissioning and after sales support Specflue offer a comprehensive range of pellet stoves and pellet boilers to allow retailers the opportunity to sell well priced products to those homeowners looking to advantage of the Renewable Heat Incentive.

To complement the MCZ products Specflue developed a partnership with Zero Carbon Future a distributor of Froling pellet and log gasification appliances as well as containerised solutions. MCZ products are rated up to 45KW and Froling appliances will be offered to their customers who operate in the commercial RHI market and offer them products for those applications
