Specflue receives Silver Carbon Charter Award

Specflue has achieved silver level accreditation under Suffolk County Council’s Carbon Charter scheme.

The Carbon Charter provides public recognition for businesses that are working to monitor and reduce their carbon emissions, with Gold, Silver and Bronze awards available. Silver is awarded to businesses that are making significant progress in reducing their carbon footprint and implementing best practice measures for managing and reducing their energy use.

Phil Lowe, Head of Sales & Marketing at Specflue, said: “We were awarded a bronze Carbon Charter Award three years ago and it is great to achieve silver on what is our second attempt. We take active measures to reduce energy consumption at work, for example our vans now use Ecostart systems - and we’re pleased our efforts have been recognised.”

In a letter confirming the accreditation, Ned Harrison, low carbon economy officer within the council’s Creating the Greenest County team, said: “The panel felt that Specflue hit all of the required targets in order to meet the Silver level of accreditation. “

The panel recognised Specflue’s well balanced approach across all sectors of the business and were impressed with the company’s bonus scheme, which has helped to reduce fuel consumption. They also praised Specflue on its well thought-out plans for further actions.

He added: “I would just like to congratulate you on this achievement and on your highly commendable environmental commitment.”

The Silver Carbon Charter adds to Specflue’s existing environmental credentials, which includes an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System accreditation.
